Today is a good day. Why? Because you are here on this earth, living another day.
Sometimes other people do not see our worth. We could either go trough life trying to prove ourselves to them, or we could find happiness regardless of them. You, my kings and queens, are worth so much more than the life you have right now (even if its a good or semi- good life). So much happiness is right at your fingertips.
Your father not being there for you is just a small part of your identity, and as you continue through life, I want you to know that you are not alone. Though you may wish for a strong relationship with your father here on earth, your heavenly father is waiting for you to reach out and run into His open arms.
God has a plan and a purpose for your life. He created you to be a wonderful being in His image. God not only is the author of your life, but He is the father that will never leave you. Starting now, you can have a new mindset as you embrace this journey realizing your worth as a daughter or son of Christ. Healing is a rough and treacherous path, but worth it once you see the end. The only way to heal from the brokenness of your past is through forgiveness.
FORGIVE YOUR FATHER
Though he may not have asked for it, and you may not think he deserves your forgiveness, your healing has to come first. Regardless of the relationship you may or may not have with your father.
It's not easy to forgive someone, especially a man who is supposed to be your provider and protector but walked out on that responsibility.
Once you embrace that journey, and change your heart towards him, there is no turning back. You have to continue your life with a new way of thinking in order to grow and heal.
If you are like me, you can be angry at all of the things that you have done in your past that have been toxic and damaging to who you are. You HAVE to forgive yourself and know that your daddy issues are not who you are and your choices are not who you are. God's grace has allowed for you to have multiple chances when you mess up. So you must give yourself second and third changes too.
The Bible says that we must forgive a person 70 x 7 times (Matthew 18: 21-22). Our hearts have to be constantly full of grace and mercy just as Christ's is for us.
Now I know you're thinking about whether or not this will change your relationship with your father. I can't give you that answer. That is up to both you and him. However, YOU have to be the best daughter or son that you can be, even if he does not reciprocate. YOU have to make sure you're doing your job as the child, and if he does not want to relationship, you keep being you. Ephesians 6:2 tells us to honor both our father and mother. Even when he makes you mad, when he tells you you aren't good enough, when he does't even call or show up, you treat him the way God wants you to treat him.
Today is a new day, your happiness matters, and your Heavenly Father loves you more than you could ever imagine.
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present not the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord". (Romans 8: 38-39).
